PB lawmaker wants hotels to lift age restrictions for military

Members of the military under age 21 would be able to get hotel rooms in Florida, under a bill proposed Thursday by Rep. Bill Hager, R-Boca Raton.

The proposal (HB 277) would require hotels, motels and bed-and-breakfast inns to waive age restrictions for people seeking rooms if they have valid military identification cards.

Florida doesn’t have a law restricting the age of people renting hotel rooms, but most hotels in the state require people paying for rooms to be at least 21. Some upscale hotels, particularly those in known party destinations, might have slightly higher age limits.
